My new favorite business card of all time

Last night was the (rescheduled) BNI St. Louis/Illinois Regional Meeting. Everybody was in great spirits, especially when reminiscing about the fire at Spazios.

I met lots of awesome BNI folk from all around the area; namely my new friends from Instant Imprints. And I have to say, they had pretty much the greatest business cards I've ever seen.

Now, I know what you're thinking: it's just a normal business card, right?

No. Check this out. When Angie handed me her card she said, "Here, it folds out into a t-shirt!"

Too cool! Way to go Instant Imprints! You've imprinted an UNFORGETTABLE impression on my mind!

LET ME ASK YA THIS...

When was the last time someone's business card blew you away?

Humorist Tim Gard has one that looks like a credit card. He uses it as a prop in his programs, and then people actually PAY him for a stack of them.

Anyone who can get someone to pay for their business card blows me away!

Ooh, this is so my field. :)
There have been 3 business cards that have really blown me away, if we're not talking about all the ones that I've designed. :)
1. Firecreacker Press has some of the greatest concepts ever, everyone has a different card, but they are all non-standard size. I love that.
2. A guy that came into Kinkos has cards that were hollogram-esque on one side. It was so awesome. He only had one left, and he wasn't going to part (understandable) but I wish I knew where he got them.
3. Sorry, but the third was a rep from Nationwide. They have die cuts, and everyone loves those.

One of the most unique designs I've seen is created from several layers of card stock with contact info printed on one of the inner layers. To view the card info you need to hold the card up to a light. It was developed by a company called "Lightroom" so it is very appropriate.

I blogged about it here

What can I say...I am business card obsessed.

We design a lot of cards in our other business. The most common request is for a card that "stands out". If we vary even slightly off the path of normalcy the client invariably thinks we've gone too far. Then they choose to stand out by doing exactly the same thing as everyone else.

Here's one I picked up a couple weeks ago that I enjoyed:

Artists have fantastic cards--some of them, that is. My favorites are on watercolor paper or are handpainted. A silk painter added a swatch of her fabric to her card.
